Repeat Key Functionality

The Repeat Key feature registers a series of recent keystrokes (typed text or editing keys like Backspace and Enter) and replays them instantly with a single keypress.

Specifications and Conditions

1. Automatic Recording of Replayed Key Operations

  • Start Trigger: When you start typing after an idle time of 1 second (1000ms) or more since the last keypress, the repeat buffer is cleared and a new recording session begins.
  • Appending Actions: As long as the interval between keypresses is less than 1 second, typed characters and editing keys (Backspace, Delete, Enter, etc.) are appended to the active repeat buffer.
  • End Trigger: When the {Repeat} command is executed, the accumulated buffer is committed as the active macro for replay, and the active recording buffer is cleared and stopped.
  • Excluded Keys (Ignored):
    • Modifier keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Win) pressed by themselves and the {Repeat} command itself are not recorded in the buffer.
    • Caret movement keys (Arrow keys, Home, End, PageUp, PageDown, their modified combinations, and Space Shift arrow movements) are automatically ignored. Moving your caret to another position after typing text will not corrupt the repeat buffer, allowing you to replay the typed text directly at the new location.

2. Sequential Replay (Continuous Repeat)

After executing the {Repeat} command, if you press the {Repeat} key again within less than 1 second, the last committed repeat sequence will be re-sent. This allows you to easily repeat the same operation multiple times.

Examples of Usage

  • Example 1: Continuous Text Input

    1. Pause typing for at least 1 second.
    2. Type hello (each keypress occurs less than 1 second apart).
    3. Execute the {Repeat} command.
    4. The text hello is sent again.
  • Example 2: Replay Across Caret Navigation

    1. Type hello.
    2. Move the caret to another line or position using Arrow keys or Space + h.
    3. Execute the {Repeat} command.
    4. The caret movements are ignored, and hello is replayed at the current caret position.
  • Example 3: Sequential Replay

    1. Pause typing for at least 1 second.
    2. Type a.
    3. Execute the {Repeat} command → a is sent.
    4. Immediately (within 1 second) execute the {Repeat} command again → a is sent.

Default Key Mapping

By default, the Repeat Key functionality is mapped to the following key combinations:

  • Space Shift (SS) + , (Comma) key: {Repeat}
    • Pressing , while holding the Space key immediately repeats the last recorded keystrokes.
  • L1 (Layer 1) + r key: {Repeat}
    • Pressing r while holding the Muhenkan (or Henkan) key also repeats the last recorded keystrokes.
