Active Line Highlight is a feature that emphasizes the line you are currently typing in while dimming the rest of the screen, helping you maintain ultimate focus on typing or reading.
How it Works & Benefits
- Screen Dimming Mask:
- Pressing the shortcut key (default:
F8) enables this feature. - Only the area around the active line (to a specified height) remains brightly lit, while the rest of the screen is covered and dimmed by a semi-transparent dark layer.

- Ideal for Presentations and Live Coding:
- It is highly effective for programming demonstrations, live coding, and slide presentations to clearly show the audience exactly where you are editing or explaining.
- It is also highly useful for accessibility, supporting users with visual impairments or learning needs.
Automatic Range Detection
- Active Window & Monitor Detection:
- It automatically detects which monitor the active window is on and applies the overlay precisely across the physical resolution of that monitor.
- When moving windows or switching monitors in a multi-display setup, the dimmed area automatically adjusts without spilling over or breaking alignment.
Customization Options
You can adjust the following options in the “Highlight/Zoom” tab of the settings window:
- Shortcut Key:
- The hotkey used to toggle the highlight on and off.
- Highlight Height (px):
- The vertical height of the highlighted area centered around the caret (10 to 500 px).
- Dimming Opacity (0–255):
- The alpha value determining how dark the surrounding area is masked. The higher the number, the darker it becomes.
- Line Color & Border Thickness:
- Customize the thickness and color of the border lines around the highlighted area.
